Beer Friday. Strongbow, Apple Cider

Greetings on this fine Thursday evening. A day normally reserved for resting and not drinking fine beverages such as this one. Alas my fine friends, it is Good Friday tomorrow. Henceforth we are reviewing this one now. The full beer review team is in on this and are all in a joyful mood as this weekend they are all off. Why I can hear the giddiness emanating from the deepest hollows of the beer tasting chambers.

Apple cider you say? Perhaps shocked as you get up to grab a rag to wipe that Tim Horton's Double Double that most undoubtedly, you spit all over the computer screen or phone as you shockingly read the title and nervously scrolled down and saw the picture.

Yes it is true. This week we are reviewing a cider.

Who do we have to thank for this you all wonder? Why, a fine chap from work who exchanged this for one of Lonebiker's finest sipping brews.

Strongbow traces it's roots back to nineteen sixty two when it was manufactured by H.P Bulmer (now owned by Heineken, those bastards!) This cider is the world leader when it comes to ciders. Which makes me ask the question. Is this the Budweiser or worse, the Heineken of the cider world?

A scary thought but I'm thinking the cider world is vastly differently as opposed to beer. Or so I naively think.

Cider is made from fermented apple juice. So the pour was a bit awkward as we didn't really know what to expect. Will there be a head? Do we sniff it or just dive right in? What about that sexy lacing we get from some of those sexy craft beers?

The pour have us a nice golden looking drink sprinkled with a dash of sunshine. A small head formed but was whisked away quickly. The cider strongly resembled something we call... Please don't be shocked: Apple juice. The smell was that of apples too making me wonder if I was fooled.

The first sip was a nice surprise. I was told by the delivery person these are nice and refreshing and best enjoyed on a hot Summer day. "Blasphemy!"I yelled! Thinking cider was the perfect Winter time cold day drink.

Welp. I was proven wrong. This would be pretty awesome on a nice hot day.

Tastes of apples were obviously there mixed with a nice sweetness that was hard to discern.

Refreshing is the best way to describe it.

This beer... umm.. err cider gets 4 suds out of 5.
