Backwards Day (2021 Version)

It was this old faithful Lonebiker post that inspired me on this ride that happened as a spur of the moment decision and turned out to be the best of the set off. This one could make a good case for top five best at the end of the year as a matter of fact.

This is the last day off with work beginning tomorrow night so it should have been the usual Mill Creek to Old Timers or Ewok run but you know what I did?

I rode from Kinseman to my old school parking lot in Mill Creek and back to Kinseman.

That's right. I'll give you a moment to compose yourselves as that would have been shocking to read.

Now you all know how fuckin badass I can be. Can we move on with this post now?

It was that old post which I read last night which made me do this today. Kinseman and the Canada Cup singletrack took me through a very busy Walterdale bridge area. It is amazing how that bridge brings so many people out. The park which is a part of the bridge project is a huge draw with that hill which is full of people. I assumed it must smell strongly of Axe body spray and cheap Walmart perfume in that area as I glanced up and had a look at the picnickers. Oh look at me... judgy, judgy.

The ride was incredible. That hardtail as I said yesterday is so much fun it's ridiculous. The way it tracks and comes to life once on flowy singletrack is one of the best feelings in the world. Oh yes, I'm going to be that guy and say it, you really feel like you are part of the bike.

Ya, I went there.. It's true though. This bike will never be beat on a fun scale in my quiver, unless a 27.5 titanium hardtail makes an appearance.

Not to say I hate the couch bike, if ridden today I probably would be saying the same things. Everything is good to ride, the rain yesterday didn't leave much of a mark. Once out of Old Timers I hit the Trap in Mill Creek and rode all the usual trails to my parking spot.

A quick coffee break then a return on the same trails until I hit the valley and took West Coast and Gnome back to finish the singletrack.

Every single trail today. Amazing.

the one folly of the day, the roots won this climb up
