Beer Friday. Duchesse de Bourgogne

Yes, I know it is Tuesday. In my tiny little head the segment is known as Beer Friday hence no matter what day of the week it is when posting.

Oh my God. That was the beginning of the most boring intro ever. I have been posting these randomly throughout the week for years now, It is not like this is the first one. Mind you I used to title them "Beer Tuesdays" and such..

Wow.. Again. how lame is this intro.

Sorry but I have nothing to talk about. Also I am sorry for the lack of riding. I had a killer rip on Saturday and thats it because a high ranking member of the family had a birthday and then I had a bad dentist appointment that I am still recovering from. The dentist was fine. I am just a little bitch. A very sore mouth today kept me at home away from the bike. With tomorrow being my last day it is a huge priority to get out.

Duchesse de Bourgogne comes from Vichte, Belgium and was established as a brewery in 1875. The bottle is dark and mysterious and the excitement of the pour on a rather lame Tuesday night kind of put a smile on my face.

It poured a dark and angry red and it could not make that Wayne Gretzky brewery glass look any better. The smell is almost acidic. Yes, probably a bad word to use  but thats what I was getting. It smelled like heavily compressed citrus, it was very hard to discern other than a heavy citrus smell that became acidic.

This one was strong smelling and I knew the first sip would be an eye opener of some sort and it was. A rush of sweetness mixed with sourness yet the sourness does not win. Dark cherries and burnt coffee are mixed in to this wonder of a beer. that has been the highlight of these last sad two days Every sip is a trip, I tell you. A trip.

This beer gets 4.5 suds out of 5.
