Best Little Rip Ever

Ride of the year potential for this one for sure as it was back to singletrack in the Edmonton river valley as opposed to non stop gravel bike riding or trips to Fort Saskatchewan. Fort Saskatchewan still kicks ass it just is aerobically easy and I seem to be too tired and sore to ride trails with long climbs.

But doggone… I did it.

I rode like a man today and I was quite happy. That ride yesterday was nice and light and perfect which helped set the tone for today as I was head down and grinding it out as hard as I could and it felt amazing. After being through unreal stress the last tow years these are the kind of rides that offer true bike therapy.

An old school Mill Creek start took me on multi use and a bit of singletrack until I found the climb up to The Trap. Still in my opinion one of the best trails in the Edmonton valley network. It can rip pretty fast and has its challenging sections and the trail is now vintage which ups it's cool value.

I found Birdhouse and climbed up into The Holy Trail where it was all the local goodies until I found the Capilano bridge. Yes I will admit I pussed out on the skinny bridge crossing on Andre's and I am not afraid to admit it on here. I did push through on the ridiculous climbs on Shooter Mcgavin. So Boo ya!

I crossed under my daughters school riding up Higher Education and took as much singletrack as I could and it was back deep into the ride in Mill Creek where I felt my legs give out after only twenty four kilometres. I remember hitting forty with no issue maybe ten years ago. Oh Lordy what happened?

Still an unreal ride today. It has me inspired for tomorrow on what will be a hard day to get out so expect a very possible Leduc or super local run if anything.

If not. Beer Friday on a Monday.
