HeadBanger

Most likely now would be the last fat bike ride of the year but who knows? The last post on riding around Beaumont had a very spring like feeling to it. It was incredible and I don't think I mentioned it on the post. The day after we were slightly walloped with some snow making the next day at work quite miserable as I was not ready for it.

Hence snow. Hence fat bike. Hence  riding the The Trap and misjudging trees.

A somewhat pleasant ride which featured some Mill Creek singletrack which was making things in the day feel so much better. The flow on the trap today had me in a trance like state as the amaze overwhelmed me.

I then quickly snapped back to reality when I hit a tree at a decent speed as I poorly miscalculated a hanging tree that I have gone around countless times year after year after year.

It was a weird smack to the head when a tingle went down the spine which as I type this now I think it seems a bit fucked up as I remember the incredible smack to the head and then finding myself on the tree opposite of the one I hit with some darkness in between.

Other than the darkness things were cool I guess.

The head smack sound overplayed for a while after it happened. I was fine, no sign of nausea or anything and was able to focus getting out of the Trap and close to crossing the river but I guess the smack to the head freaked me out a little. So I made my way back by looping back up to the streets upwards past the Old Timers cabin and found the infamous Old Strathcona main bike lane (as per lonebiker stats) and than headed south back towards the car all via residential streets in cool Edmonton neighbourhoods.

Happy Wednesday
